Wow, I never equated shame with the desire to make oneself acceptable to others, but it’s true, the act of becoming what we’re not is based on the shame of who we are. Amazing insight, thank you!

Thank you for naming something I see over and over — in my clients, in people close to me, and in myself. Shame and self worth are so intertwined that most people don't even recognise the shame anymore. It just feels like reality. I never personally struggled with needing to cover shame — but I know too many people who do, and this piece gives language to something most of them have never been able to say out loud. I hope this reaches the people who need it most.
